About

I am a native Kansan currently living in the California desert.  I spent some time traveling and teaching in Mongolia, the Republic of Georgia, China and Turkey.  My current concerns and focus of research is how technology affects daily lives including conscious and unconscious state and corporate surveillance.  I play around with thought experiments because they are fun even if they aren’t very realistic or useful.

I read a lot and apparently, having just acquired an Xbox One, I’m a gamer.  I don’t know if I will take game criticism on as a serious endeavor but I would like to.

I attempt to back up my claims with research though I’m aware of having certain biases.  My primary inputs come from subscriptions to The New Yorker, The Economist, Foreign Affairs in addition to podcasts like Marketplace, TED Radio Hour, and Radiolab.  If traveling through an airport I usually pick up a copy of the New York Times, Wall Street Journal or The Atlantic.  I know where this puts me on the political map.
